Been a bit crazy with work lately - great way to start the year! Started it off right by art-directing 4 videos for Intel. Then moved on to designing a bunch of screens for a Verizon commercial with the super awesome guys and gals at Cantina Creative - which just wrapped up nicely. Now starting a pretty huge project for a pretty huge feature film I can't name yet. But it's one I had done a lot of development on last August in a previs-type of way - so it's great to be able to revisit it now that filming is complete and finish it off proper.

Got a Canon 60d to play around with. It's a very cool addition to the 5dmk2 and has the most noteworthy benefit of a rotating back screen. This could become my camera of choice!

We've all decided to be Carebears for Halloween this year. Chelsea and Christina look supah-sexay.

Just did a very improptu speaking thing alongside Rob Garrott talking about C4d/Adobe integration and Stephen Lawes describing PLF's amazing work on Iron Man II's HUD and other screen graphics. This was all at Ko and Warren's incredible DMALA motion graphics meetup in LA. Wasn't prepared for so many awesome and passionate people (200+?) and such a great theater! It was so much fun and so great to meet so many new cool people. Thanks to everyone that's already e-mailed me from the presentation - very appreciated. And thanks to Ko for putting me to work! ;-P

Just got added to the Motion Advisory Board. I'm just starting out in film, so it's a real honor to be listed among some of the top artists in the industry including Mark Coleran (The Island, Bourne Series, Tomb Raider etc.) Rod Basham (Imaginary Forces - Terminator Salvation Machine Vision), Karin Fong (Imaginary Forces - also Machine Vision), Synderella Peng (Yu+co - GREAT motion art and film and television titles) - and many more luminaries in the field. All of them great designers, artists and people who love to give and share their knowledge and experience with you. Motion is that one great, 'must-go' experience that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Finally able to get out and SHOOT with my 5k Mark II with Chels. It's a fantastic camera and I'm finally able to more closely match what I see in my head. (I hate video cams). Here's one we did for Style Me Pretty . Filmed in a few hours (hectic day) with the 5d mkII (transcoded to 24p), 50mm 1.4 Nikon, 19-24mm 2.8, 100mm 2.8 Macro and Nikkor 24mm 2.8 using Zacuto Rapid Fire rig, Z-finder, Cinevate Linear Tracking System and a Glidecam HD 4000. Fun toys for sure. In the end it's just a story of the emotions of the day - the slow build of anticipation - the beauty of what everyone had created and designed for the shoot - and then ramping back up with all the excitement of a shoot with Chelsea Nicole. Color toning was done in Color and is a digital reinterpretation of a technicolor 2 strip process that they used in the first color films.
